Wildcats Take Series 4-1
With a shot to take the lead in the South with a win on Tuesday, the RoadRunners ran into a determined Wildcat team that scored early and kept the pressure up late to claim the victory and the series from Topeka.
Sam Piazza had a hat trick for Wichita Falls, scoring the games first goal on a power play in the first and twice in the final five minuets of the second period. Piazza's goals bookended Kyle Bauman's netter at 3:43 of the second and all the Wildcats had to do was hang on the rest of the way.
And hang on they did. The Runners didn't dent the scoreboard until 17:38 in the third (Ryan Polin assisted by Jake Kamrass and Tyler Poulsen) but by then it was too late. Fourth-place Wichita Falls took the game 4-1 and ended the Runners streak of 12 straight home games with at least one point earned in the standings.
The RoadRunners return next Monday and Tuesday night to Landon Arena to take on the Amarillo Bulls. Monday night's game is the Shamrock Showdown featuring $2 green beers, $2 hot dogs, $7 tickets for fans who wear green, and the team will be wearining green socks that will be auctioned off during the game. Tuesday night's game is Family Fun Night. Fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs, and four sodas for only $44. Parking for both Monday and Tuesday's games will be free.
