On a night where the Topeka RoadRunners hung a championship banner to commemorate last seasons NAHL South Division Playoff title, the team posted a 2-1 win over the Amarillo Bulls.
Topeka outshot Amarillo 10-5 in the first period and took a 1-0 lead when Sam Rennaker zipped a tight pass across the top of the crease to Willie Brown who buried it for the go ahead goal.
In the second period Topeka ramped up the pressure, out shooting the Bulls 18-6 and doubled their lead to 2-0. Daniel Rzavsky fired a shot and Jasen Fernsler swatted at the rebound, then as Mike Gornall had the puck come his way, he and Sly Sutter both swatted it home and Topeka held a 2-0 advantage at the end of 2.
The Bulls got on the board in the 3rd, a power play goal from the left circle that snapped a a string of 26 consecutive successful penalty kills for Topeka. Amarillo pulled their netminder late in the game but were unable to score as the 'Runners posted a 2-1 win in regulation.
Topeka (7-2-0) and Amarillo (2-3-2) wrap up the weekend set on Sunday at 12 noon in Landon Arena. The doors are open at noon and parking is free. Fans who attended Friday night's postponed game can redeem their tickets at the Expocentre Box Office for today's game. If those fans can't make today's game, they can present Friday's tickets at the RoadRunner's offices and exchange them for tickets to any game this season.
