Runners Give Springfield the Blues 2-0
Most people struggle to find their game after a long holiday break. The RoadRunners, however, aren’t struggling with much lately. Two Kamrass goals and a Bridges shutout downed Springfield 2-0 in the first of a two-game series at Landon Arena tonight.
It took most of the first period for Topeka to find its footing but, when they did, it was Jake Kamrass who found the net (assisted by Andrew Roye and Peter Halash at 18:18) and the lead for the Runners heading into the second. A period where not much happened only that it bled into the third where Kamrass found the net again, this time on a power play (assisted by Halash and Tyler Poulsen at 9:54) giving his team a 2-0 edge in the final 10 minutes.
Which brings us to PJ Bridges. In his fourth game against Springfield, Bridges is now 3-1 with two shutouts after batting away all 17 pucks-on-goal tonight. He is now 9-3-1 on the season with a 1.38 Goals Against Average and 337 saves.
The Runners and Junior Blues take the ice again Saturday night at 7pm. The game marks the conclusion of National Wild Turkey Federation Weekend where the team’s specialty camouflage jerseys will be auctioned off to help benefit wildlife conservation. The auction takes place following the game. For more information on tickets, call 785-286-PUCK or visit www.topekaroadrunners.com.
