‘RUNNERS BLOW THROUGH TEXAS WITH SWEEP

Jordan Davis (27) protects the puck from Tornado forward Jack Prince. Topeka downed Texas 4-2 on Saturday to complete the weekend sweep.

The Topeka RoadRunners continued their winning ways with a weekend sweep of the Texas Tornado, capped off with a 4-2 win on Saturday in front of over 4,000 fans at the Dr. Pepper Star Center in Frisco, TX.

It was interesting to note that in 7 prior meetings, Topeka had managed only one first period goal. That number changed to 2 when Jake Lynes scored his second goal of the season. Bob Marx started the play as he held in a Tornado clearing attempt at the right point, fired a shot that was turned aside to the left of goalie Jimmy Kruger but Dan Dupell chased it down, snapped it out front for Lynes who punched it home for a 1-0 lead at 12:43 that held after 20 minutes. Topeka suffocated Texas, holding them to just 4 shots in the period.
