Runners Blank The Blues 3-0
Life on the road hasn't been all that bad for your Topeka RoadRunners lately. Heading into Springfield riding a modest three-game winning streak, the Runners grabbed the lead and never let the Junior Blues on board enroute to a 3-0 win.
Sam Rennaker took the initiative at 13:59 in the first (assisted by Clint Garris), putting the puck in the net and scoring the eventual game winner.
The game remained tight until 5:42 in the third when Jasen Fernsler's netter (assisted by Brandon Vuic) widened the margin to a more comfortable 2-0. A Brendan Jacques tripping call at 6:51 opened the door for Tyler Groat's power play goal (assisted by Jake Kamrass and Cody Champagne), which put the game out of reach and delivered the Runners their fourth straight victory. Not to be lost amidst the scoring was the work of newly acquired RoadRunner PJ Bridges. In his first game for Topeka, Bridges stood on his head while stopping all 33 shots on goal for the shutout.
The Runners and Blues lock horns again Saturday night at 7pm. Tune in to Sports Radio 1490 KTOP to catch all of the action all season long. Topeka returns home on Nov. 21st for a three-game set against the Odessa Jackalopes. That weekend will feature a specialty jersey auction benefitting the Shriners.
