The Topeka RoadRunners have announced their Training Camp for the upcoming 2011-12 season will be held in Independence, MO at the Independence Events Center from Aug. 24 – Aug. 30. Players are reporting to Topeka on August 21.
The RoadRunners look to reload after capturing the South Division Regular Season title as well as the President’s Trophy for having the NAHL’s best regular season record in 2010-11, where they went 43-12-3. A solid core of returning RoadRunners will be joined by a talented group of new players who will battle it out for the final roster spots during Training Camp.
This season’s “Blue White Classic V” will be held in the midst of Training Camp. The intrasquad game is scheduled for Saturday, August 27 at 5:00 pm at The Centerpoint Community Ice, adjacent to the main arena. The event is a fund raiser for the Topeka RoadRunners Booster Club who provide numerous goods and services to benefit the players and the program. Tickets are available from any Booster Club member, on the Booster Club website (www.trrbc.com), or by calling the RoadRunners Business Office at 785-286-7825. The cost is $8.00 and includes a postgame meal (hot dog, chips, and a beverage) with the players. Tickets will also be available at the Booster Club’s Membership Drive, set for Aug.15 at 6:00 pm at the Lazy Toad in Fairlawn Plaza, just south of 21st off Chelsea Drive in Topeka.
The RoadRunners are finalizing plans for their preseason schedule, and will announce dates, times, and opponents soon. The regular season for Topeka begins Wed. Sept 14 in Blaine, MN at the Combat/NAHL Showcase Tournament. The ‘Runners face off against the Fresno Monsters at 8:15 pm.
