RoadRunners obtain USHL defenseman

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Topeka RoadRunners announced Wednesday that the club has acquired defenseman Brenden Rons from the Omaha Lancers of the USHL. Rons, who was originally tendered by Topeka over the summer, will be in the lineup this weekend when Topeka visits Shreveport for games Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Rons, a 6-4, 180-pound defenseman from Farmington Hills, Mich., is committed to play for Michigan Tech. He played in 23 games this season for the Lancers and recorded two assists. Rons is a product of th
e Oakland Jr. Grizzlies program, skating for both the U16 and U18 teams prior to beginning this season in Omaha.
In coming to Topeka, Rons will be reunited with former Grizzlies teammate Nick Granowicz.
“Brenden will be a welcomed addition to our squad,” said Topeka RoadRunners coach Josh Kamrass. “We knew after we tendered him that he could possibly spend time in the USHL, and I think that was a great experience for him. But for now, we have to make a push for thumbnail_image003the playoffs, and we expect him to be part of that effort.”
