Topeka RoadRunners play-by-play broadcaster Arch Ecker was honored recently for broadcasting his 750th Junior A hockey game.

Ecker, a Los Angeles native, began his lengthy career in 1996 with the AFHL\’s Butte Fightin\’ Irish.

The AFHL attempted to merge with the NAHL in 1997, but eventually reorganized as the America West Hockey League (AWHL). Ecker called games during all six years of the Irish\’s existence.

Following the 2001-02 season, Ecker accepted the same position with the Helena Bighorns. The AWHL eventually merged with the NAHL, and, after four seasons in Helena, Ecker joined the RoadRunners in Santa Fe in 2006-07 – the team\’s final season in New Mexico – and then accompanied the organization in its relocation to Topeka.

\”I\’ve been fortunate to have worked with some incredible coaches and staff during my career,\” he said.
