TOPEKA, Kan. – The Topeka RoadRunners announced recently that center Marcus Russell, the team’s leading scorer, has been moved up to the USHL and is now a member of the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Russell, from Traverse City, Mich., had 25 points in 28 games for the RoadRunners (12 goals, 13 assists) and had already matched his offensive output for the entire 2015-16 season.
“Marcus was improving rapidly during his time here in Topeka, but part of our job here is to move players up and on,” said Topeka head coach Josh Kamrass. “While we hate to see him go, it’s an opportunity that he was passionate about.”
The RoadRunners also announced that forward Andrew Hart was placed on the Injured Reserved list after he suffered an upper body injury against Amarillo several weeks ago. Hart, the team’s fourth-leading scorer, is expected to be out several months.
