Power Plays Power Runners Past Odessa 3-2

Sweeps are never easy. Particularly when there are three games involved. Nevertheless the RoadRunners, coming off a rough stretch, went down to Odessa, TX, and completed a three-game sweep of the Jackalopes in dramatic fashion 3-2.

Jake Kamrass started the show with a netter at 7:52 (assisted by Tyler Groat and Cody Champagne) on a power play. Kamrass' goal was the climax of a strong series that saw him accumulate four points, two on goals.

Leading 1-0 in the second period, the Runners saw Robb Stautz tie the game at 1:01. Not long after, Jasen Fernsler fired his second goal of the weekend and the Runners entered the third up 2-1.

Joey Palumbo tie it all up early in the third with a goal at 1:12. The frame would continue, seemingly destined for stalemate when Andrew McLean was called for hooking at 17:58. This allowed a RoadRunner man-advantage that Tyler Poulsen took advantage of at 19:43, giving Odessa little time to respond and the RoadRunners the win.

The Runners head to Illinois next weekend to take on the Springfield Junior Blues. Fans in Topeka can see every second of the action at Blind Tiger Brewery and Restaurant both Friday and Saturday night. They return to Landon Arena on Nov. 21st for a three-game series marking Shriners Weekened with the RoadRunners. For more information on tickets, call 785-286-PUCK or visit www.topekaroadrunners.com.
