The Topeka RoadRunners may not have been in attendance, but nonetheless made quite a haul on Monday night during the NAHL Banquet of Champions, the annual precursor to the Robertson Cup Tournament. Head Coach and General Manager Scott Langer was named \”NAHL GM of the Year\”,
Scott Langer wears two hats for the RoadRunner organization. He\’s been the head coach for all six seasons since the franchise moved to Santa Fe, and he also wears the title of general manager. In typical Langer fashion, he accepted news of this award humbly. \”The nicest part of this award is that it\’s voted on by other teams in the league, so it\’s great to see our hard work is being recognized.\” He added, \”I\’m fortunate that we have the tools in place to make it work here in Topeka. This is most definitely a shared award. The ownership and staff are tireless and committed to the growth and success of our program, and that makes my job a whole lot easier.\”
In May 2011 the Robertson Cup Tournament will be hosted by the RoadRunners. Six days of games will be played at the Kansas Expocentre and four teams from across the league will stay, shop, and dine in Topeka for a week.
