Fresh back from Wichita Falls and readying for yet another trip to Springfield, the Runners remained busy in the community this week. Three schools, a mall, and a Performing Arts Center later, Topeka is ringing with holiday spirit and looking forward to some Thanksgiving hockey.
Reggie the RoadRunner was all over the place this weekend. On Saturday, Reggie helped welcome Santa Claus at West Ridge Mall before heading over to TPAC for the annual Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays event. On Sunday, he returned to TPAC for more holiday fun, posing for more pictures and handing out schedules top grateful fans. To get Reggie the RoadRunner involved in your event, call 785-286-PUCK.
On Monday, the players used their much deserved day off to visit Stout Elementary for the Reading with the RoadRunners Program. All in all, 12 players visited 12 classes, helping spread the joy of literacy and education. That afternoon, Quinn Preston, Brady Jones, and Jack DeMatteo went out for a pep rally at West Indianola Elementary. The school is selling RoadRunner tickets in order to raise funds and the players showed their support with a Q&A followed by a hockey demonstration. For more information on Reading with the Runners, or Fundraising with the Runners, call 785-286-PUCK.
The week in the community wrapped up Tuesday afternoon as Ryan O’Connor and JB Baker visited Auburn Elementary for the Runners Get Fit Program sponsored by Subway and Great Life. The kids were thrilled to have the Runners there, playing a spirited game of floor hockey until sundown and showing how much fun exercise and fitness can really be.
