Daniel Rzavsky Named South Star Of The Week

The RoadRunners stars are shining bright after their two-game sweep of the Ice Rays over the weekend. Two Runners, in particular, stood out from among the rest to receive recognition in week one of the young season: South Division Star of the Week Daniel Rzavsky and honorable mention Jasen Fernsler.

From Alex Kyrias/NAHL.com – "The Topeka RoadRunners got the 2014-15 season started on the right foot with a sweep of the Corpus Christi Ice Rays. 20-year-old forward Daniel Rzavsky was a big factor in both of the wins as the native of Bratislava, Slovakia racked up three points during the weekend, which included two goals and an assist.  On Friday night, Rzavsky (6'1/190) had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 shootout win. On Sunday, he had the game-winning goal in a 5-2 win. "The success was a pleasant surprise against a good team," said Topeka head coach Scott Langer. "Dan is capable being on the scoresheet every night and plays extremely hard."

Fernsler's impact was felt all weekend as well. His first period assist and a third period goal helped propel the Runners into overtime on Friday. Down 2-1 in the ensuing shootout and on the final attempt, Fernsler scored to extend play allowing Daniel Brickley the chance to hit the winning netter. That, combined with the pressure he applied on Corpus with seven shots on goal Saturday night, Fernsler earned an honorable mention.
