Goaltender Cooper Frederick has accepted the job of minding the nets during this weekend’s Second Annual Alumni Game.
Frederick played two seasons with the RoadRunners, appearing in 26 total games and posting a 13-3-3 record. His career goals against average is 2.41 with a save percentage of .900. He also notched a shutout in a 10-0 win over the Albert Lea Thunder on Oct.24, 2009. The native of Tulsa, OK found Kansas to his liking, as he has since enrolled as a student at KU in nearby Lawrence.
He steps into a tough spot, following the stellar shutout performance by Nick Hopper in last seasons Alumni Game, won by the Alumni 1-0. In 2009, the Alumni Game was the first real competition for the incoming class of RoadRunners. This time, the RoadRunners will have three games under their belt already, with one played in Atlanta during camp and two more against Amarillo prior to Sunday’s Alumni Game. “Last season, our guys put up a ton of shots on the Alumni and Hopper stood on his head”, said Scott Langer, entering his seventh season as head coach. “It’ll be fun to see how things play out this time around.”
Frederick will make his return to Landon Arena for Sunday’s faceoff at 12:00 noon, and tickets are on sale in the Expocentre Box Office.
