Topeka, KS – November 28, 2017 – Topeka RoadRunners Head Coach Josh Kamrass is stepping off the bench to accept two new roles; Director of Hockey Operations and fatherhood. After recently announcing that he and his wife are expecting their first child next spring, Coach Kamrass has accepted the role of overseeing the three teams that make up RoadRunners Hockey LLC.
“I couldn’t be more happy for Josh,” said Team Owner Don Stone. “It’s exciting knowing that we’re welcoming a new addition to the RoadRunner family as well as benefitting from his years of hockey experience in developing our franchises.”
Kamrass began his junior career with the Helena Bighorns in 2005 before being acquired by the Santa Fe RoadRunners for the 2006-2007 season. As a RoadRunner, Josh established himself as an offensive force through the team’s relocation to Topeka, eventually tallying the third most points by any player in franchise history. Kamrass would move on to the college game, playing for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and then Curry College. Though injuries eventually spelled the end of his playing career, his passion for the game never waned.
“It meant a lot to me to return to where it all pretty much started and earn my coaching spurs as a RoadRunner,” said Kamrass. “Now with this new opportunity, I get to apply that experience to our hockey development with the added bonus of being able to spend more time with my growing family.”
As Director of Hockey Operations, Josh will oversee the three franchises that make up RoadRunners Hockey LLC; The College Station Spirit and Atlanta Capitals of the NA3HL, and the Topeka RoadRunners of the NAHL. RoadRunners Hockey has been among the premier organizations in the country at developing players for the college game and beyond. Over 200 players have progressed to college in the organization’s 14 year history.
