Bulls Take Fourth Straight Over Runners 2-0
A tough series, a tough ride home. Unable to dent the scoreboard in either game of the two-game set in Amarillo, the Runners were swept by the Bulls for the second time in as many series, falling 2-0 on Saturday night.
The first and third periods were loaded with penalties but not much else as neither team could put the puck in the net presumably because they were more involved in extracurricular activity. It was the second period that marked the difference in the game as Tyler Gernhofer notched an unassisted score at 3:04. Cody Gylling (assisted by Kyle Gattelaro and Mike Davis at 7:40) made it 2-0 to salt the eventual win by the Bulls.
For his part, PJ Bridges was effective in the net as he denied 31 of 33 shots on goal. However, veteran Amarillo goaltender Paul Berrafato was five shots better, stopping all 36 pucks on net on the night.
The RoadRunners return to Landon Arena on Thursday, Nov. 21st against the Odessa Jackalopes. That three-game weekend series will see the RoadRunners sporting specialty Shriners jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game on Nov. 23rd with a portion of the proceeds going to support the Topeka-area Shriners.
