TOPEKA, Kan. – The Topeka RoadRunners announced today that Rochester Hills, Mich., native Marshall Bowery has been named team captain for the 2016-17 season.
Bowery, who follows in the footsteps of former captain Cam Strong (Dartmouth College), played in 53 games for the RoadRunners last season, scoring 23 points (7 goals, 16 assists).
“Marshall’s presence in the dressing room was something that evolved over the final stages of last season, and he was a natural choice,” said RoadRunners coach Josh Kamrass. “He leads by example and plays with a conscience – which might be the ultimate compliment.”
Bowery, a 1996-born center, came to the RoadRunners right out of high school. He played three seasons for Rochester United High School where he compiled 141 points in only 55 games – including an 80-point senior season.
“He has all the tools, and his confidence came a long way over the course of last season,” said Kamrass. “He’s demonstrated that he has genuine offensive capabilities in high school, and it’s starting to translate into junior hockey. We believe he’ll be a tremendous college hockey player.”
