Former Topeka RoadRunner defenseman Kevin Ryan, now playing Division I hockey at Niagara University was recently named to the AHA All-Academic Team. To qualify for the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team an individual must post a 3.0 grade point average or higher in all of the academic periods during which his team was actively competing. RoadRunner Head Coach / GM Scott Langer was not surprised to see his former NAHL All-South blueliner succeed. "Kevin is an extremely bright individual. His approach to his studies is as focused as his approach to the game. There's no question he will continue to be successful."
Ryan, who led all Topeka defensemen in scoring in 2009-10 with 35 points was one of three RoadRunners to play in all 58 games. His plus +33 rating was second best on the team. He also was selected to wear an "A" on his jersey as an alternate captain.
